Status: Salary, Exempt
Rate of Pay: $65,000 – $85,000 annually
Location: Field and Vancouver, WA main office
FT or PT: 40 hours/week; Mon – Fri

 

Job Summary:

The Plans Technician manages the process and timelines for plan maintenance of the stock plans. This position coordinates the drawing and architectural tasks, assists with plan reviews, and conducts frame walks. This person facilitates the relationship between Holt, the architects, engineers, and designers with the highest level of integrity, character, professionalism, courtesy, and ethics.

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma
  • College degree or trade school preferred
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in single and/or multi-family construction
  • Ability to perform physical requirements of job, including but not limited to, traversing rough terrain and jobsite obstacles
  • Must be able to work in adverse weather
  • Have a vehicle, valid driver’s license, and safe driving record to drive to different sites
  • Advanced knowledge of Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook)
  • Bluebeam experience preferred
  • CAD experience preferred
  • Potential remote work after mandatory in-office training, decided by manager
  • Read and decipher plan blueprints and details
  • Advanced knowledge of structural design, bearing points, fire walls, ventilation, and single and multi-family building codes
  • Estimating skills and knowledge of industry best practices
  • Knowledge of Value Engineering
  • Ability to communicate needs to architects, engineers, and other designers clearly during plan design and redline review

Responsibilities:

  • Act as a point of contact for plan and architectural related items for Holt Homes
  • Help develop new single and multi-family plans and see them through to completion with Architects, Engineers, Truss Designers, I-joist designers, and cabinet designers
  • Maintain existing plan database and associated redlines
  • Effectively communicate plan changes to associated departments (purchasing, sales, and marketing)
  • Manage the completion of construction drawing and architectural tasks per the deadlines set in new community planning timelines
  • Assist permit coordinators with plan review items from jurisdictions as needed
  • Schedule and conduct frame walks during first build of new plan to eliminate issues and value engineer as needed
  • Review of marketing material, renderings, and website collateral for accuracy before release to public
  • Other duties as needed

Work Environment:

  • Regularly uses a computer with repeated movements to enter data, differentiate between colors, shades, and brightness, and read from a screen for extended periods of time
  • Travels to sites to evaluate homes in progress, often in adverse weather
  • Regularly interacts with Architects, Engineers, and various designers
